Rental Car Insurance, Necessary?
Should You Buy Rental Car Insurance?
I personally do not see much practical use for obtaining rental car insurance. A person who is worried about running their rental car into some wild animal may want to purchase collision insurance or the rental collision insurance may be important if you are traveling in an area where there happens to be a several types of large, uncontrolled animals crossing in your path.
The rental car insurance industry is likely to ignore a client’s needs unless there happens to be a large amount of damage. My personal view is that if a driver is personally comfortable with a certain insurance company when it comes to rental car insurance then they should go ahead and get the car insurance from them. It can help maintain a good personal relationship that a company can have with their clients.
People should have Rental car insurance explained to them before they go out and purchase it. If a tree falls on the rent al car, the car insurance company may not pay for this accident because many companies consider it to be an act of God. A client is lucky to simply get enough insurance in order to protect the content inside of the car. A company that deals with all kinds of car insurance may likely to cover up to three hundred dollars in total asset coverage when it comes to the things that can be stolen out of a rental car. People have been known to steal items out of a car all of the time, but the auto insurance companies are not likely to cover these items.
Rates for rental cars seem to vary amongst companies. Call your local rental car company and ask for a quote prior to signing the rental agreement. And if you are accident prone and don’t have car insurance? A person who has a poor driving record is going to be smart to buy collision insurance iif they are truly accident prone although most rental companies will need proof of insurance before you sign their agreement..
Most drivers are completely relaxed however and the auto insurance companies are just going to make a quick buck off of someone who ends up purchasing car rental insurance. A person who purchases car rental insurance may be happy with the rates that they get, but they are not necessarily happy with the results. Remember, with most rental companies, damage varies to the outside of the car before the rental car company will contact your insurance company. Typically, scratches and small dents once returned to the rental car company will usually pass their return inspection.
